This study was conducted for the Strategic Environmental Research and Develop-ment Program (SERDP) under Work Item ES8, "Regional Guidelines for Managing Threatened and Endangered Species Habitats." The technical monitor was Dr. Femi A. Ayorinde, Cleanup and Conservation Program Manager, SERDP. Mr. Bradley P. Smith is the Executive Director, SERDP.
The work was performed by the Natural Resource Assessment and Management Division (LL-N) of the Land Management Laboratory (LL), U.S. Army Construction Engineering Research Laboratories (CERL). Ms. Harper was employed as a Research Associate under an interagency agreement with the U.S. Forest Service, Rocky Mountain Range and Forest Experiment Station, and Colorado State University. Ms. Harper was responsible for community classification, while Mr. Woolery and Mr. Robertson provided information on community impacts and management. Ms. Ann-Marie Trame, CERL principal investigator, coordinated preparation of this report. Information on animal species was the responsibility of Dr. Richard A.
